Montessori Reading Boosters
Montessori Reading Boosters

A series of books, about Dash and Simba and their cat friend Ziggy Pirate, which will support young readers who may need a boost to their reading abilities. The aim is to support ‘Total Reading’. Montessori intended children to gain ‘Total Reading’ through following the Montessori curriculum. Total Reading describes the level at which reading is done with ease. At this level the reader can get accurate information, can communicate fully, and can read for pleasure. Total reading is complete comprehension and interpretation of the thoughts of another. The four important aspects to total reading are as follows: understanding the literal and implied meaning of the text; comprehending completely and accurately the thought, sentiment, and information expressed. Children are not reading unless they are comprehending; recognition of style; and being aware of the cultural and historical context.

Children's Books on Montessori
Children's Books on Montessori

Once upon a story there was Maria Montessori

A book for children (4 to 9 years of age) to read about Montessori. Inspiring peaceful children and encouraging repetition with Montessori materials and reading. Written in Dyslexic font and coloured letters to reflect the Montessori sandpaper letters, phonograms, reading folders, word endings and punctuation. The plants are identified, and materials are explained for the child. The questions posed are for further research by the child. Each page has a letter at the base in the middle which, when written out, will spell the name of a famous person! Accompanying the book is a Teachers Resource booklet, and classified cards of the plants. Additionally, to boost children’s reading ability, cards of the words used in the book are supplied, divided into difficulty level, with the aim to support the child with Total Reading. And… if you flick pages, you can build the Binomial cube! All this for $15.
